About the Role

InterSpatial Analytics is seeking a hands-on AI-GIS Engineer to build a proof of concept that connects AI/LLMs with GIS systems.

The goal is to develop a prototype that enables users to ask natural-language questions, allowing AI to interpret GIS data, execute basic spatial queries or analysis, and return results through a web interface.

GIS experience is preferred but not required.

What You'll Build

• A React.js web interface for AI-driven GIS queries
• A backend service connecting AI models with GIS data and tools
• AI workflows using tool calling, agents, or automation techniques
• API integrations with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, feature services, or spatial datasets
• A basic RAG workflow for GIS layers, metadata, fields, and documentation
• Output formats including maps, tables, or written summaries

Requirements

• Experience building AI/LLM applications
• Familiarity with tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex
• Experience with AI tool calling, function calling, agents, or automation workflows
• Proficiency in React.js and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Backend development experience (Python, Node.js, or similar)
• Experience working with REST APIs
• Ability to translate concepts into working prototypes
• Strong problem-solving and documentation skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with RAG pipelines, embeddings, and vector databases
• Familiarity with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Express
• Experience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS REST API, or ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript
• General understanding of GIS concepts including maps, layers, spatial queries, and geospatial analysis
