Network Operations Engineer (Private Cloud)

Job Description:

About the Job

As our new private cloud facility pushes the boundaries of modern infrastructure, we are looking for a Network Operations Engineer who thrives at the intersection of classical hardware and software-defined logic. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a high-performance, multi-tenant environment powering our IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings. You will ensure that our networking stack—from physical spine-leaf architectures to virtual overlays—is resilient, scalable, and lightning-fast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Orchestration & Configuration: Design, deploy, and manage a hybrid networking stack featuring both classical hardware (L2/L3) and SDN controllers.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate network tasks and provisioning using scripts and tools to support a dynamic cloud environment.
  • Linux Networking Mastery: Manage and optimize networking within Linux, handling virtual switching, routing, and high-availability configurations.
  • ITIL Process Alignment: Operate strictly within ITIL frameworks, documenting and managing all network changes, incidents, and problems.
  • Security & Segmentation: Implement micro-segmentation, firewall rules, and VPNs to ensure tenant isolation.
  • Performance Monitoring: Use telemetry tools to proactively monitor bandwidth, latency, and packet health, resolving bottlenecks.
  • Disaster Recovery: Maintain and test failover and load-balancing strategies for maximum uptime.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certifications:

    • CCNP (Enterprise or Data Center) required; CCNA with exceptional experience may be considered.
    • RHCSA or RHCE highly preferred.

    • ITIL Foundation (v3 or v4) required.

  • Hard Skills:

    • Classical networking: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VXLAN, STP.

    • SDN & Virtualization: Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, or OpenDaylight.

    • SDS integration knowledge (Ceph, vSAN) a plus.

  • Experience & Soft Skills:

    • 3+ years in data center or ISP environments, ideally cloud provider context.
    • Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

    • Strong troubleshooting mindset under high-pressure scenarios.
