Position

Back-end Java Engineer

Location: Software company in Damascus
Employment Type: Full-time (5 days/week, 8 hours/day)
Work Arrangement: Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a Back-end Java Engineer to join a software company in Damascus and contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services using Java-based technologies
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend integrations
• Work with Spring Boot to build reliable and scalable services
• Participate in database design and optimize SQL queries for performance and reliability
• Ensure high standards of data quality and system stability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Participate in code reviews and follow best development practices

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 1+ years of experience in Java, Kotlin, or Scala
• Proficiency in SQL and data processing concepts
• Strong experience with the Spring Boot framework
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and version control (Git)
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to data quality

Nice to Have (Bonus)

• Experience and familiarity working with distributed systems (Hadoop, Kafka, OpenSearch)
• Experience with data visualization or dashboarding tools
• Experience with containerization (Kubernetes) and observability stacks (JMX, Grafana)
• Familiarity with DevOps tools (GitLab)
